Liposomes, nanoemulsions and other nanoparticles are widely used in pharmaceutical and other industries.
Quality control of these very small particles includes visualization by electron microscopy.
However, the preparation of nanoparticles is not easy
and artefacts frequently occur, necessitating the use
of freeze-fracture or other laborious procedures.
To overcome this difficulty our laboratory has developed
a reliable preparation technique in which the suspension
of nanoparticles is placed on a suitable filter.
This technique allows for an even spreading of the nanoparticles, avoiding the formation of aggregates,
while the particle shape remains undisturbed.
